The swing era (about 1935 - 1964) was the age of big bands playing for dancing, later also for listening. The most popular - and hence the most successful - were the big bands conducted by Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Elington, Count Basie, as well as other orchestras that gradually became world-famous. A strong sound of famous bands fascinated young musicians from Prague and its neighbourhood. In 1998, lead by Jiøí Zelenka, they founded such a classical big band.
Since its foundation, the orchestra has performed at various concerts, competitions and other cultural and social events, gaining a warm acceptance of both the audience and musical specialists. The band plays mainly the songs of Glenn Miller's orchestra, but modern arrangements of later pieces can be found in its wide repertoir, too.
